It takes only a few minutes to set your email app to forward messages from a certain address to your phone as a text. Here are instructions for Gmail, Outlook, Outlook.com, and OS X Mail. Under 'Event notifications' or 'All-day event notifications': To edit a notification, choose if you'd like to receive a notification or an email. Select how long in advance you'd like to get the alert. To add another notification, click Add notification. To delete a notification, click Remove notification. However, since Mail Rules can only be created on the Mac, the iOS app struggles a bit and that’s where the trouble comes in. Rules are applied after an email comes in, so messages still go into.
View notifications in Notification Center
To open Notification Center, click in the upper-right corner of your screen, or swipe left with two fingers from the right edge of your trackpad.
Customize alerts or turn them off
You can also control other features here, such as whether notifications appear on your lock screen or include a preview. A preview contains a portion of the email, chat, or other content associated with the notification. You can choose to show previews never, always, or only when you unlock your Mac.

Use Do Not Disturb
Do Not Disturb silences incoming calls and notifications. It automatically turns on when your Mac is connected to a TV or projector.
To choose when Do Not Disturb turns on and off, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Notifications. Do Not Disturb settings are at the top of the sidebar:

Mail User Guide
You can create rules that help you manage incoming email messages and automate tasks, such as replying to or deleting messages. For example, you can create a rule that highlights messages from a specific person, or that automatically moves messages from your inbox to other mailboxes.

If you have multiple rules, they’re applied in the order in which they appear in the list of rules; drag a rule up or down to change the order.
Mail stops applying rules to a message when it encounters the Stop Evaluating Rules action, or when a message is transferred to another mailbox by rules used on a mail server or computer or device synced to your computer.
If you use iCloud Drive, your rules are available on your other Mac computers that have iCloud Drive turned on and Mail selected in in iCloud Drive options. Files attached to rules, such as sound files or scripts, aren’t available. See Use iCloud Drive to store documents.
